World Autism Month

Published: 2022-04-06

This year marks the 15th annual World Autism Awareness Day, sanctioned by the United Nations in 2007, with the first World Autism Awareness Day taking place on 2nd April 2008. This day is recognised every year to highlight the need to help improve the quality of life of those with autism so they can lead full and meaningful lives as an integral part of society. From the 2nd April, Autism Speaks, as well as many other charities, observes World Autism Month to continue to celebrate autism awareness and acceptance. Throughout the month, they focus on sharing stories and providing opportunities to increase understanding and acceptance of people with autism, fostering worldwide support. This year, Autism Speaks is committed to creating a world where all people with autism can reach their full potential.

Autism Together have also created two pre-recorded assemblies for use by schools, to help promote autism acceptance and explain more about what autism is and how it might affect someone. During these short presentations, Chloe gives a brief introduction to autism and the work that the charity does, while also focusing on ways you might help someone with autism, before sharing some interesting facts about autism, link here.
